Foodsteps powered the impact data behind Levy's groundbreaking Climate Impact Report Serving the Future: Our Journey to Sustainable Hospitality – one of the first comprehensive climate impact reports in the sports hospitality sector – delivering the emissions data behind every sustainability milestone.

The food system is responsible for around a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet food businesses often have complex supply chains and a wide network of partners, making it hard for them to measure and even harder to manage emissions across their supply chains. With sports and entertainment venues serving millions of meals every year, the opportunity to cut emissions – and engage fans in climate action – is huge, but difficult without credible, science-backed data.

By partnering with Foodsteps and embedding it across its UK and Ireland operations, Levy has been able to measure its scope 3.1 food and beverage emissions, analyse and label dishes with their climate footprint to help customers make more sustainable choices, and identify opportunities for lower-impact ingredient swaps.

This data-driven approach has turned sustainability ambition into measurable progress, setting a new benchmark for the industry.

Foodsteps insights have enabled Levy to achieve what it describes as “industry-leading progress,” including:

  • 71.5% reduction in beef burger emissions (2019–2024), driven by switching away from beef burgers and introducing a 50:50 burger (half beef, half mushroom).

  • 28 tonnes of CO₂e saved by switching to seaweed-based packaging from Earthshot Prize winner, Notpla.

  • 8.4 million reusable cups used, replacing single-use rPET cups.

  • 86% of dessert items now plant-based, with more than 60% of venues offering fully plant-based dessert menus.

  • 414% increase in plant-based milk and cream procurement (FY19–FY24).

  • 7,500+ minutes of sustainability workshops delivered to teams.

Foodsteps will continue to partner with Levy on its decarbonisation journey, including a targeted 11.1% reduction in food and beverage emissions intensity by 2030 and an open call for greater transparency in the drinks industry.

Anya Doherty, CEO & Founder, Foodsteps, commented: “I’m incredibly proud to see Levy publish their first Climate Impact Report — a milestone that shows real transparency and leadership. By sharing five years of data and action so openly, they’re giving the whole sector something to learn from and build on. That’s exactly the kind of ambition the food system needs, and it’s been a privilege for Foodsteps to support their team on this journey.”
Kevin Watson, Levy Sustainability Director adds: “I am hugely proud of how we’ve embedded best practice into every corner of our business, from carbon labelling with Foodsteps to incentivising sustainable procurement. This is about changing how our whole business thinks and works. We will be judged by our actions. We have done a lot, we are delighted with the results, and we are now doubling down on our efforts for people and planet.
