LONDON, UK – To mark London Climate Action Week 2026, Swan London – located in the icon Shakespeare Globe – has partnered with food sustainability platform Foodsteps to launch an exclusive low-carbon menu, bringing environmental transparency directly to diners' tables.
The collaboration introduces Foodsteps’ intuitive A–E carbon labels to a few of Swan’s seasonal dishes, empowering guests to navigate the climate impact of their meal as easily as reading a nutritional label.
Bridging the Gap Between Climate Science and the Kitchen
The global food system is responsible for approximately one-third of greenhouse gas emissions, making it a critical frontier in the fight against climate change. While broad structural adjustments are necessary, meaningful climate action often starts with small, concrete, and highly actionable steps – such as adjusting recipes and rethinking menu design.
To prepare for the launch, Swan London has been working closely with its culinary team, training chefs to understand the data behind the ingredients they source and the tangible environmental benefits of low-carbon cooking. By analysing the full "cradle to grave" lifecycle of each recipe through Foodsteps’ database – which leverages over 3,400 peer-reviewed studies – Swan’s kitchen team has been able to optimise dishes for lower impact without compromising on flavour, quality, or texture.
Proving that Planet-Positive Can Be Delicious
A key objective of the partnership is to challenge the misconception that sustainable eating requires sacrifice. The curated London Climate Action Week menu proves that a planet-positive diet can be delicious, celebrating high-quality and seasonal ingredients.
"We are thrilled to partner with the team at Swan London to show how data can seamlessly integrate into a premium dining experience," says Anya Doherty, Founder of Foodsteps.
Climate action doesn’t have to feel abstract. By putting clear, scientifically verified carbon ratings onto menus, Foodsteps is providing restaurants the tools to decarbonise their offerings and empowering consumers to make more informed choices.
How the Labels Work
Foodsteps’ carbon labels use a distinct traffic-light rating system:
- A and B Ratings (Green): Represent dishes with a significantly lower carbon footprint than average, helping us stay within planetary boundaries.
- C Ratings (Amber): Represent a moderate environmental impact.
- D and E Ratings (Red): Indicate highly carbon-intensive dishes, typically involving ingredients with high agricultural or supply chain footprints.

By making the invisible footprints of our food visible, the collaboration demonstrates how the hospitality sector can actively guide consumers toward sustainable habits, one dish at a time.
The exclusive low-carbon menu will be available at Swan London from the 22–28 June 2026 – find out more and explore the menu on the Swan website.
